Design + Build

Fairfax House,

Los Angeles

In the heart of Hollywood this classic Tudor Style home, was found by the owner in poor condition with a severe amount of  deferred maintenance, failing and rotted roof structure, and an evident amount of uniformed modifications that clouded the integrity of this style of architecture. With a clear vision and a determined owner, the task of restoring the home's original integrity was set in motion.

On the first floor the designs included a newly envisioned kitchen space. With the removal of a dropped beam we were able to connect previously adjacent but separate spaces and create one large inviting space that allowed for a breakfast nook that had large windows to the rear garden.

The rear of the home was originally a completely separate space from the interior. In order to embrace the back yard we added a new pool symmetrically located on the access of the living room fireplace flanked by symmetrical double french doors which created an outdoor patio for entertaining. This gave the home the needed interior exterior connection which offered better overall flow as well as better use of both spaces by linking them together. The living, dining and den spaces have careful placed detail throughout. The living room has a restored barrel vaulted ceilings with arched doors leading from the min foyer. The dining room has paneled walls and a coffered ceiling to create intimacy and interest typical in the Tudor Style.

At the upper level, three suites were created each with en suite closets and private baths. The Master suite has a large built in closet and the Master bath has both a tub and a shower with stone and wood finishes offering period detailing to complete this Tudor styled home.
